Use this checklist before requesting railing, guardrail, driveway gate, or access-gate work so measurements, safety needs, and site conditions are ready for review.
Measure the opening or run
For gates, note clear opening width, driveway slope, post or column locations, and swing or slide direction. For railings, measure the run, height, stairs, landings, and edge conditions.
Identify the real use case
A decorative railing, commercial guardrail, driveway gate, pet boundary, pool-adjacent fence, and service access gate all need different planning details.
Check the connection points
Concrete, masonry, framing, old posts, slabs, steps, and retaining edges affect how metalwork can be anchored or reinforced.
Plan hardware early
Hinges, latches, closers, operators, keypad access, safety hardware, and stops can change the design and fabrication requirements.
Choose a finish path
Paint, powder coating, primer, exposed weld cleanup, and touch-up access should be planned before fabrication so expectations are clear.
Coordinate adjacent work
